What is the use level of Sytenol® A? 0.5-1%.
Lotion containing 0.5% Sytenol® A was clinically proven to address multiple signs of aging including reducing wrinkle surface area and hyperpigmentation.
Can more than 1% of Sytenol® A be used in a formula?It is not recommended to go above the 1% use level of Sytenol® A. It can be irritating at higher levels.
Is Sytenol® A China approved? Yes, Sytenol® A is approved for use in China, but it is still under the 3-year monitoring period. It is also REACH compliant and globally approved.
What is Sytenol® A soluble in?Sytenol® A is a hydrophobic ingredient and miscible in a wide range of emollients and vegetable oils.
It is not soluble in water and water-soluble ingredients.
What is Sytenol® A incompatible with? Because Sytenol® A is a phenolic compound, it is incompatible with sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide.
Does Sytenol® A color the product?No! While Sytenol® A is yellowish brown in color, there should be no color in the final formula and no color change over time.
Is Sytenol® A heat stable? Yes! Sytenol® A is heat stable and can be added directly to the oil phase.
What range does the pH of the product containing Sytenol® A need to be in? Sytenol® A is a phenolic compound and needs to be formulated into products within the acidic pH range (below 6.5). Formulators should check the pH range acceptable for all other ingredients as well.
Can anything affect the color of the product containing Sytenol® A? Can anything affect the color of the product containing Sytenol® A? Iron or copper ions can affect the color of a product with Sytenol® A. These metals ions can be present in water and can also be produced by UV radiation.
To avoid interaction with Sytenol® A and metal ions, the following measures can be taken:
• Add a chelating agent at 0.1-0.3% (Examples: EDTA, EDDS, Sodium Phytate)
• Use airless and/or opaque packaging
Is Sytenol® A stable in light? Yes, Sytenol® A is photostable. However, opaque packaging is recommended for the final product.
