Synoxyl® HSS: In-vitro dermal penetration in human skin revealed No skin penetration

Our recent in-vitro dermal penetration study (OECD 428) of Synoxyl® HSS (5% solution in HydraSynol® DOI) in human skin revealed No penetration. Dermal penetration studies are conducted to determine how much of a chemical penetrates the skin, and thereby whether it has the potential to be absorbed into the systemic circulation. Dermal penetration data is also a requirement in establishing Margin of Safety of a substance used topically; non-penetrating substances offer high safety confidence level.

Absorbed dose (corresponds to the quantity of product present in the fluid receptor) and absorbable dose (corresponds to the quantity present in full skin – strip, epidermis & dermis) were found to be 0 and 0.17%. Study result confirms that the systemic exposure to Synoxyl® HSS via topical application contributes in a negligible way to total systemic Synoxyl® HSS exposure.

Our extensive research has demonstrated that Synoxyl® HSS (INCI: Trimethoxybezylidene Pentanedione) is a superb photostabilizer of Avobenzone and other photosensitive compounds, boosts in-vivo SPF by 50% (FDA protocol) for both organic and inorganic sunscreens and protects skin against sun-induced damage by inhibiting upstream ROS cascade.
