Acetyl Zingerone (AZ) is an organic compound that offers various anti-aging applications, including anti-pollution, sun preparation, and daily skin care. Acetyl Zingerone is designed based on the structural leads from Zingerone and Curcumin as a multi-targeted active that provides long lasting photoprotection and reverses the signs of photoaging.

Acetyl Zingerone is produced via organic synthesis. The starting materials are acetyl acetone and vanillin. 

Acetyl Zingerone offers several skin health benefits that help protect the skin from UV damage, reduce redness intensity and reduce the effects of aging.

Due to Acetyl Zingerone‘s versatile properties, it can be formulated into many different skincare applications.

Acetyl Zingerone is compatible with a wide variety of ingredients including emollients, thickeners and UV filters, making it easy to incorporate into any type of formula.

It can also be formulated with other actives. Recent studies indicate, for instance, that Acetyl Zingerone stabilizes Tetrahexyldecyl (THD) Ascorbate to slow its degradation and leads to improvement of collagen production and barrier function development. Read more about the study here.

To assess the tolerance of Acetyl Zingerone, a range of in vitro and human clinical studies were performed with Synoxyl® AZ as-is or in formulated products. Studies included local tolerance (non-skin irritant, non-skin sensitizer, and non-phototoxic), genotoxicity, and human repeat insult patch tests.

Results determine that Acetyl Zingerone is suitable for all skin types, including oily, dry, and sensitive skin.

Based off clinical study results, skincare products containing 1% AZ should be applied once or twice daily for maximum effectiveness. Improvements in skin were shown as early as 4 weeks

Acetyl Zingerone protects skin by helping manage overproduction of ROS through five distinct pathways: as an antioxidant, physical quencher, selective chelator, oxidase inhibitor and antioxidant defense system booster.
