Brightening & Even Toning

post img

Human skin coloration is both adaptive and labile as evidenced by the multitude of different skin colors of humans around the world. Skin coloration is primarily regulated by the amount and type of melanin synthesized by the melanocytes. However, additional and equally contributing factors include (a) the efficiency of the transfer of the melanosomes, hence the melanin, from the melanocytes to keratinocytes, a process that occurs with the help of E-Cadherin, an adhesion protein, and (b) the subsequent distribution and degradation of the transferred melanosomes by the recipient keratinocytes. Sun exposure as well as other environmental and physiological factors also lead to more localized skin pigmentation, e.g., age spots, melasma, and freckles, owing to an overabundance of local melanin production.

Synovea® HR (INCI: Hexylresorcinol) Use level: 0.5 to 1%

post img

Synovea® HR (HR) is a highly purified material (>99%, typically ranging from 99.5 to 99.9%) which is essentially free of resorcinol, a known skin irritant, and is particularly suitable for topical applications. HR has become the New Gold Standard for developing skin brightening/even toning products. HR has a long & safe history of human use, the earliest citation appears in 1925. Hexylresorcinol is an ingredient that has attained GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status and is effective as an anti-browning agent of melanosis in shrimp.

Multiple clinical studies demonstrated its strong performance as an effective skin brightener/even toner which is applicable to all skin colors. HR offers among the best cost performance/safety profile and has now become the sought after ingredient for developing effective skin brightener/even toner. Synovea® HR has not been tested on animals. Globally approved.

Synovea® EL (INCI: Ethyl Linoleate) Use level: 2 to 5%

post img

Ethyl Linoleate (EL) is a stable form of Linoleic acid (LA) which is one of the key constituents of skin lipids and is also one of the components of Vitamin F. EL is neutral, lipid-soluble form of LA. EL is hydrolyzed to LA in-vivo thereby providing all the skin benefits of LA. It is clear, almost colorless liquid and is an excellent solubilizer of Synovea® HR (25%). One can make custom-made blend with EL for developing unique proprietary products. EL provides a broad-spectrum skin benefits and has been reported to lighten UV-induced skin pigmentation. Globally approved.
